Bright green gas

Been running the engine off a jerry can since I first got the car started in October. I recently determined the gas tank is clean and rust free inside except for a darker reddish discoloration at the very bottom that looked like residue from evaporated gas. I added a couple gallons of non-ethanol gas to the tank. A week later I started the engine off the tank. The car started and ran fine. However, I quickly noticed the gas in the sediment bowl had turned bright green, so immediately shut off the engine, hooked the jerry can back up and ran it off that for awhile.

I've read old gas can turn green. Also that the green color could be from brass or copper oxidizing as the lighter fractions of gasoline evaporated. Has anyone experienced this? The first photo shows the green color in the sediment bowl after running off the tank. The second shows the sediment bowl after I'd hooked up the jerry can again and run the engine. The green color gradually faded as the gas in the sediment bowl was siphoned away by the pump.
