Jarrett, the key is just an on/off switch.....When starting press the gas pedal once or twice, this will close the choke and squirt gas into the intake manifold, then turn the key on and depress the gas pedal, the starter will start turning and hopefully ( if everything is working properly) the car will
start. It takes a little while to get the right technique but the more you use the car the starting refinements will become obvious. Hope this helps. Also, welcome to the forum we're here to help. Make use of all the printed material that will help you take care of your Packard.
