Re: Your Favorite Packard

A very subjective subject likely to get interesting opinions but I'll bite.

I lean mostly postwar and have 3 I am rather fond of. The 47 Clipper Custom because of the styling and by 47 it had all the refinements Packard offered -- one of Packards best engines, a superb quality tasteful interior along with a body that even in the sedan just flows together nicely.

Next choice is the 54 Pacific. Again, the last and best of the S8 engines plus an interior which was both sporty and tasteful. Even though it started life as a junior car on the smaller wheelbase, by 54 for all purposes it was a top of the line senior car with a body that had been refined with just the right amount and placement of chrome.

I have to say the 56 seniors are the favorites. Happen to have a Caribbean HT at the moment but had a Patrician before that. Like everything about them styling wise and by 56, while still not perfect mechanically, they had been refined into very dependable good looking cars.

Here is a photo of my first full restoration -- a 54 Pacific taken last year which is a good 30 years after I sold it, Current owner has added a couple of accessories and it still looks decent inside and out.
