Which Packard engine was comparable to Buick's Dyna-Flash inline eight?

One of my late grandfathers was a die-hard "Buick man." He owned a 1938 Buick Century Coupe with a Dynaflash inline 8. Just wondering what was Packard's "answer" or comparable engine?
