Here's a couple of photos of 5699-1001. First, as it appeared at the 1999 Packard Centennial where it was offered for sale. Next a few shots as it arrived in 2016 for the new (current) owner. And lastly a couple of shots as we began to assess the body structure.
As I said earlier, if it weren't 5699-1001, it probably wouldn't have been saved.
The chassis and engine, etc. of this Caribbean are currently restored according to what the owner told me a while back. I know the owner and he lives in Sweden. We've had dinner together there. The photos I have look quite nice.
What remains to be done is the body, which will take some serious love, skill, attention, time (and of course funds).
Here is a photo of 5699-1001 chassis and engine restored (with generator arm turned backwards and #1 carb choke shield missing).
By the way, this Caribbean is NOT the first 1956 Caribbean (which I knew well and rode in when new) but rather is the first
PRODUCTION 1956 Caribbean. There is a difference.
