Document camera

Curious if anyone uses a document or book camera in their non Packard life and if so are they deserving of the hype. Several of them are also able to be used for classrooms or online learning and business Zoom meeting situations to take the place of a webcam or an overhead projector so thought maybe someone on the forum might have run across them.

I want to replace my old flat bed scanner which is at the end of its supported software update life with a newer and larger unit. With the glowing reviews about how much easier it is to scan books and magazines with the camera type instead of a flatbed am tempted to try one.

Two mid priced units I am looking at (both Chinese made) get decent writeups and have software to flatten the book curvatures but unfortunately, as most of us know, many glowing reviews are highly dependent on whether a reviewer is paid or the product is free. Sometimes those reviews are worth less than nothing. Would rather get real world opinions on operation in general if possible.
