A note in the Owners Manual on my '37 says cylinders are NOT stamped with the key number and to record key numbers for future key replacement. This also could be because if you didn't have the correct key, you couldn't remove the cylinders.

If you have the cylinders out, a locksmith should be able to make you a key that fits and also decode the number for you from that new key.
