Re: Linkage problems

Thanks Howard for your help,
I could see the two levers and the linkages although they were covered in grease and dirt. Completely filled the oil hole with PB BLAST and let stand about 30 minutes. Then kept moving the shift lever toward reverse then back to first, and so forth. Finally got it into reverse moving the car backwards then stopped. Shifted out of reverse then finally into 1st. Then back to reverse again. Then I tried moving it to second gear, slowly it went, then finally to third. Went riding an country roads, with a little down shifting involved.
Now able to move somewhat easier the more I drive. Mind you l wasn’t too aggressive with manipulating the shift leaver, but just kept patiently moving until it went were it was “in gear”. Also this was after the transmission case was topped off with about a quart of 85-140 gear oil. Will pressure wash the linkages with hot water to blast away the old decrepit grease. I will coat the linkage connections with waterproof grease, and fill oil hole with a lubricant called OO grease (used in the old Snapper lawn mower gear cases) by using a syringe and a small tube to fill it completely.
What can I say except thank you for your help.
You guys make this website work!👍🏻
