That's one thing I was so happy to learn about where I live in Georgia. My "real plate" I can just keep in the car (anywhere- glovebox, floor, trunk) and my original YOM is what I can keep on the car. The old plate is "registered" or associated with the new one though with the DMV.

I also was able to mix things a bit with GA only having back plates. An owner at some point redid an original YOM PA tag which is on the front, and my aged GA one which actually matches the age of the original paint is on the back so I have the best of both worlds, even if it confuses others.
