Great idea for a thread! I'm American, but I've lived overseas for many years and usually read British classic car magazines since they're much easier to find than American ones. Some of them, such as Classic & Sports Car, are excellent.

To add to the list:

American / British

Sedan / Saloon
Station wagon / Estate car
Tachometer / Rev counter
Windshield / Windscreen
Convertible top / Hood
Defroster / De-mister
Turn signal / Indicator
Transmission / Gearbox
Bias ply (tires) / Crossply (tyres)
License plate / Number plate
Spare tire / Spare wheel
Gas tank / Fuel tank or Petrol tank
Passenger's side / Nearside (that's the LEFT side in a British car)
Driver's side / Offside
