In my neck of the woods a Renault is like a no-name car.

True in the US as well today since they withdrew from the market. And they sure made some cars to help us forget them, remember the Dauphine?

On an unrelated topic but of interest to you, I've come across some B&W photos, time-frame unknown but perhaps within the last 25 years, of various Packards in Russia. These come to me from a well-known Packard fan and PAC Director currently in Stockholm and connected with the Nordic Packard Owner's Club. He has more and I'll get around to posting them one of these days, and perhaps you'll recognize some of them.
