On several back with the 1941 Packard in the flooding in Santa Cruz, I go by that corner frequently and surprised to see water so far up as it's not close to the Bay. It must have been coming down in buckets to flood there! Our own house much closer to the water and doesn't have drains at the curbs did not get any flooding while Soquel Ave in the photo did and does have them. Eberts, with the same sign, was still there until not many years ago.

Update: I was just reminded that the levies around the San Lorenzo River weren't put in until the '60 and apparently the occasional flooding was the reason they were built.
