Coolant sys. pressure tester for a '49 22nd series...

Hi all,

I have a '49 23rd series. I picked up an OEM (brand) pressure tester (from Pep Boys)to test my current car. I also used it to test the Packard. ...albeit with a double rubber washer as it has a deep neck in the radiator. My question is what is anyone using to test their radiator caps? This unit doesn't have a deep enough adapter to test the old caps.

I have tried to use the Craftsman brand tester. But that tester has a blow-up bladder that just doesn't seem to work as expected. I had to run the test about 6 times until successful. That was on a vehicle that I knew didn't have a leak.

Just a little background on my Packard. I have a 327cu. with a cracked block. The crack is located on the driver's side under the drain cock right in front of the starter.

Thanks,

Mark
