I was thinking pressure bleeding might be needed. As to internals, the only thing I could think of that might be restricting is the tension of the springs separating the pistons. They might need to change if pistons pointed down.

The cylinder in the British car illustration has two inlets. Those were shown in a picture without the reservoir. The plastic rectangle feeds one and the pointed end, the other.
