Re: Outdoor Packard winter storage

Dave,
Fortunately I have a garage. However, my Father stores his vehicles under a temporary type of carport. The framework is of metal poles and the outside of the structure is made of plastic sheeting or canvas. It lets the vehicle breath to avoid the type of damage Owen is talking about while protecting them. But we don't have a lot of snow here in Georgia so I do not know how they would stand up to Delaware snow. I've seen them for sale at Pep Boys if you have them up there. Best of luck!

Moisture is your enemy--the ideal situation would minimize the car's exposure to moisture. Can you rent garage space nearby?

800 miles from Indianapolis to Columbus? Would that be Columbus, Georgia?

You'll find an index to The Packard Cormorant on PAC's website, but I've just been browsing it and thus far haven't found what we're looking for. But the picture(s) could have just been miscellaneous incidentals and not indexed. And the magazine is no doubt archived by the publishing organization, PAC, and many back issues are still available, see the PAC website. I also have with one or two exceptions every issue since 1964. You could also contact the editor of course. Also the prior editor, noted auto historian Dick Langworth. You might also want to contact the noted author on Packard engine history, Robert Neal. Or have you already explored these possibilities? Send me a PM if I can help with these.

Owen,

Pardon my ignorance, but is the Cormorant indexed for those years at all?
Does anyone (museum, library, organization) archive the Cormorant?

Yes, I've seen one or more pictures as well but can't quite remember where - perhaps in a back issue of The Packard Cormorant. As I recall it was a closed body style, not an open tourer.

Hello,

That 26 Touring is absolutely not the car. Who do I contact for picture of the Diesel car on its original run ? Pictures do exist and I have seen them but do not know where ?

Reminds me of the first dirty movie I ever saw: "Whip me, beat me...make me write bad checks"

So it all boils down to a definite maybe. I know that Dick is gone and I think Bill too, anyone know if Duncan or if Vince are still around so that the question may be posed? How about anyone else that was on the scene and in the know?

The trim piece that runs the length of the hood needs to slide back a couple 2 to 3 inches. There are some nuts that you can loosen from under the hood. Then, push back on the base of the hood ornament and lift. It's only on there by friction.
