Rear wiper was an accessory in earlier years but doesn't rate a mention in the 55 accessories catalog--just the rear window defroster. Because an option wasn't listed for a particular year doesn't mean a dealer wouldn't install if it was wanted and would fit.

As Eric said, no cutting involved but would suggest you use penetrating oil liberally on the screws at bottom rear edge where it attaches to body. A day or so to soak before removal attempt would be good.

EDIT: This pict of rear wiper from 51 acc catalog.

No cutting involved to remove the fenders, and I'd really like to have the tag on the blue one!

Those "modern Jesus" statues are from a really good movie. It has nothing to do with the Jehovah's Witness's or anything else for that matter. Extra points for those who know where it comes from.

Sorry about the duplicate photos on last post.
Here is another photo of the blue Packard and a rear photo of coral car.
Question: Was the rear wiper a dealer option? It is vacuum drive and looks professionally installed.

After trying countless cleaning products I found that OxyClean actually removes stain and soil from seats and doors.

Question: How big of a job is it to remove front fenders? Any cutting involved?

Thanks, Eric

Well, I hope I loaded the photos properly. As you can see the coral Packard looks pretty good. Unfortunately, beauty is only skin deep! The exterior is fine with pretty decent chrome. However the front floors are rotted and interior had rain and furry visitors over the past 40 years. It looks like the engine has new fuel pump and other things that indicate it may actually fire up some day.
While the blue Packard doesn't look as nice, it is actually pretty solid and the interior has been keep dry with minimum damage. Unfortunately, the engine compartment has a lot of rust and very doubtful that engine will turn over.
The decision is, what to do to morph these into one drivable and attractive car.
Anyway, thought I'd share these pictures with you.

Ken: Great work. It is very interesting reading your post on the replies you got.

One side note William Schmidt didn't merely cancel Studebaker's styling consulting contract with Raymond Loewy's
firm. Studebaker had signed a ten year deal with Loewy's firm. In 1955 Studebaker was in third year of the deal with Loewy. To buy out the other seven years of the Loewy's contract it cost S&P nearly one million dollars.

Ken, great work. I intended to contact both men, but have been really busy of late. I am glad you were able to do this and clear the air. Nat's recollections of Dick Teage mesh perfectly with mine, he was exceptionally gracious, a real gentleman.

Yeah!. I've seen 2wo of those modern style Jesus statues like that over the last year or so. Mostly they belong to people who call themselves Jahovahs Eye Witnesses. They are the people that have WatchTowers, Kingdom Halls, and come door-to-door handing out Dillon/Hendrix pamphlets (i never read) and refuse to eat fish with scales or maybe they have to be weighed on a scale first.
