I am sure the various vendors will have them if Napa does not. I know that Dan Yocum has them if I want to make the that 60 mile drive for a single bolt!

The block and heads are going to be chemically stripped. I'm not sure who Dan Boehm is going to use. As you can see, the engine was painted a teal color. So that also has to be taken care of. I need to find one rocker cover, as I have one Clipper cover and one Packard cover. As soon as I get the car back, I'll take more pictures. The trans is currently over in St. Clair Shores at Pointe Automatic Transmission being overhauled. The wiper motor is boxed up and ready to get shipped out to Ficken. I haven't decided just what to do about the washer unit. I have pretty much decided to go with one of Bob Aller's oil pumps. I thought about using one of the PI oil pumps, but I really want to keep the vacuum wipers. Now if I can only find a long, narrow box that will hold my electric antenna, I can get that sent out for repair.

Owen, thanks for the tip. I will go see if NAPA has any 1/2" x 20tpi lugbolts.

John,
Read about this one on the Route 66 chronicles. Great picture's on there site of the interior-no throttle pedal and extra gauges on the dash.Looks to be a 39 or 40 ? senior with that grill.Nice to see That Packard was working on alternitive fuel vehhicles almost 70 years ago ! Possibly due to gas rationing during the war?

Last time I bought lug bolts was about 10 years ago, for my 1934 Eight, and they were an on-the-shelf item at NAPA.

Thanks for the advice guys.
When I got home today I broke out the Tap & Die set my wife bought me for X-mas and went to work. The lug bolts themselves were the worst of it. So I cleaned up all the threads with a die, then I also chased the holes in the drums with a tap (1/2 x 20tpi). So now I can screw the lug bolt all the way into the drums by hand. There is one dodgey lug bolt that I will replace as about 5 rows of threads are missing for the start of that bolt.

How about 1955? I haven't looked, but are the solenoids also mounted under the fender? If converted to 12V negative ground, would these work on the 1955 model?

Packard Prototype Pictures Just Discovered

I think that I have just made came across some very rare photos of a Packard prototype, while doing some research at my local library today.
The photos that I am about to post were take at the Packard factory around 1938. According to the information that I found this Packard is powered by a steam engine. It seems that Packard had been doing some expermenting and thinking about a production steam engines for Packard's after WWII. John F. Shireman

Try Terrill Machine or Egge (they advertise in Hemmings and Packard publications) for your engine parts. Contact Robert Aller (12-11 N.E. 144th St., Kearney, MO 64060) for one of his oil pumps.
