1948 288 engine head

My head has 14 mm plugs. It has 2 cylinder inserts, 1 actually broke off 1/2 way in.
My head has 14 mm plugs. I have another head with 10 mm plugs. My block has the letters CE stamped on side of block.
I would like to use the new head with 10 mm plugs.
Will this be okay?

1948 station sedan headlight switch

I’ve been trying to get my headlight switch working and have little luck. On the 1st push I should get the tail lights and parking lights to come on. I get nothing . On the 2nd push I get tail lights and headlights come on. My brakes and turn signals work. I get my beam light and headlight indicator on.
I have no instrument lights or turn signal indicators either.
I am really going in circles.

Howard sent an excellent explanation of the headlight switch and it’s operation for the ‘48 288
I somehow deleted it. I would be grateful if he could resend it.

I’ve been completing my wiring. It has been quite a job. How can I check that I’ve got power to my lights and signals.? Where do I start and in what sequence?
My original car wiring has 3 wires coming from the column under the dash. I’m not sure how to connect it up? I assume 2 are turn signals but what about the third?
Thanks for your help

Howard,
Thank you for this information, it really helped me understand what is involved. I am anxious to get the front clip installed. My last big task after restoring the car for 15 years. Packard Info has been a great resource for me.
