1956 Packard Caribbean Convertible. This Caribbean is number (2) of 276. Number (1) is reported to be in Sweden. The top has been replaced; new tires; original dashpad has been peeled back, repadded and rei[size=small]nstalled. Original paint with flaws; original interior; no rust; stainless steel strips have been replaced with NOS. Paint color is MTV; chrome is very good; original 2/4 setup; motor and transmission have been gone through; power steering, power brakes and TL system all work. Car is in Virginia. The Packard Service Counselor Vol.21, No 2, page 6, refers to an updated oil pump (Part number 387862), casting #387756 for the 18th through 21st series cars. Is anyone using these updated pumps with good results?

Manual states Oil Capacity Crankcase on single six is 2-1/4 Gal then states Additional oil over level necessary to make rods dip is 1 1/2 gal
Does that mean a total of 3-3/4 gal total in the Crankcase ?

10 psi IS FROM A MANUAL GAGE AT THE BLOCK
owner IS DECEASED
REBUILD WAS 15 YEARS AGO

Oil is 15-40
New rebuilt oil pump was installed
Can has not been driven due to low Oil pressure and no change in pressure on fast idle
No bottom end noise yet, some top end noise

Purchased a Packard with a "rebuilt" 288 engine Oil pressure at engine is 10 psi
any ideas what they did not do or left out? Thanks
