Re: Wanted: 1937 SU fuel/vacuum pump rocker arm spring

The rebuild kit from Then and Now Automotive includes the spring.

Then and Now Automotive

AC pump 856138 is a Series F for 1932-35 Buick models 60-80-90

The AC pump for 1937-38 Packard Super 8 is number 152 3196, also Series F and uses the same rebuild kit as the Buick
Earlier 1933 to 1936 Packard models also used the same rebuild kit

Usually the only difference between the same AC Series pump type for different makes is just the rocker arm.
Then and Now may be able to tell you if rocker arm 856211 is correct for the Packard

I was referring to the cover on the smaller shaft which still appears to be incorrect, wrong shape, inside diameter too big for the shaft and has a non-Packard part number on it.

The one with the larger shaft diameter is for the Custom 8 356 engine which has a different clutch disc and pilot bearing.
The smaller one is for the 288 and 327 engines but the cover plate that is with it appears to be incorrect with only 4 mounting bolts instead of 6.

Our supplier did a computer scan as well but then made final adjustments manually with spot samples to get an exact match.

Sounds like your paint supplier didn't put much effort in matching the color to the gas filler door provided.

Our local club did a refresh on a 1940 110 that had rusted through headlight buckets and a local auto body supply store provided paint that was an exact match to one of the old buckets left with them as a sample. Once sprayed on replacement buckets there was no noticeable difference to the rest of the car.

How does the fuel line route in the rear from the outside of the frame to the tank?

I am still looking for pictures of how the fuel line transitions from the outside of the frame rail to the tank. If anyone with a 120 or 115 can assist, that would be grateful.

Here are some photos of the fuel line with the tank removed, going from rear to front.
From the connection on the fuel sender, the line goes under the frame cross member and in front of the fuel tank right mounting bracket then bends under the frame rail to follow the kick up above the rear axle with clips tight to the frame then bends straight away from the frame and above the rear body mount to clips on the rear and front running board braces with a standoff clip halfway between. There is a pair of bends still away from the frame to pass under the rear of the front fender then straight to the bulkead fitting.

The "G" prefix first appeared in the 1948-54 parts list and a copy is available in that list under the literature archive.
It does not appear under the Factory Parts List tab.

Richard Rice in Spokane owned a prototype 1956 Caribbean with the reversible seats back in the 70's.
It was unfortunately destroyed when rear ended by a semi when being towed back East during a winter blizzard.
