Ok. Thanks for checking. I will find something. Many cars had similar setups below the carburetor so I should be able to find something. Thanks for all your help.

I guess I never thought of this part being called an Insulator. Is it made of steel or rather some type of thick joint? I see now in the parts book there is also a ??insulator washer?? any idea what it is?

Yes I would love to either buy one or get dimensions and I will get one made.

Thank you for the usual great support.

1933 Super 8 fuel pump question

Hello,

I am reassembling the engine on my 1933 Super 8. It looks like the fuel pump stays out of the engine block and would require a spacer between the block and the mounting flange of the pump. I checked the part book but no luck there. Does anyone know if the pump gets mounted directly on the block or is there an intermediate part?

Thanks

Thank you for the response. While I suspected that torque spec were probably not published i was surprised recently when I have found them for a Ford Model A (including sequence for head bolts). I thought that maybe enough folks would have gone through the procedure to advise on value.

I will use the ASTM data.

Hello,

Does anyone have torque specifications for the water jacket cover plate on the 1934 Super Eight engine? I would very much appreciate it. The torque sequence would be great too.

Differential ratio 1933/1934

Hello,

I own a 1933 Super 8. I see a lot of owners changing the differential ratio and am wondering what is factory standard and its weakness to justify these changes. Is it wise? What is the ??improved ratio? Is it driven by higher speeds and longer drives in better highways? Were there several factory ratios and was this an option back then?

A little history lesson would be appreciated here.

Thank you and best regards

Re: Valve timing question

Thanks for checking PackardBarry.

That brings an interesting question. If there is one "0" on the crankshaft, it would stand to reason that the single mark lines up between the 2 "0" on the camshaft. When 2 marks are present, they line up to each other. Is it possible that we are dealing with different cam profiles or differences between 8 and and Super8?

Well, many thanks for the interesting comments/inputs/pictures .

I had the crankshaft re-checked and confirm that there are no timing marks. I guess I will have to do it the old fashion way with the crank set at TDC and phase the valves do that #8 is at the tail end of the exhaust cycle.

Thanks again
