Tom probably has the correct answer, especially if the hose is older, and not rated for ethanol type fuel. That stuff can really mess up the older rubber lines as well as diaphragms in the fuel pump.

Re: front turn signal lights

I put reproduction Harley Davidson turn signal indictors on my 39. Just had to make some "Z" brackets from some flat steel stock from the hardware store to hold them. This is similar to what I used; just change the bulbs to 6 volt. As long as you are using them for turn signals, the smaller wire size seems ok. If you are going to use them for continuous use, such as for running or parking lights, you may want to change the wiring size to a heavier wire. I had the local auto paint shop mix up some matching paint for Packard Blue and painted the light bodies.

woodgraining for a 1928 6

HI - I'm working on woodgraining the upper dash and window frames for my friends 1928 - here's a link to a photo of what the car looked like several years ago.
http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=11625&cid=32
The engine is now rebuilt, as is the chassis and the body is being prepared for painting this spring. He's asked me to do the graining using my GrainIt kit. My guess is that the window frames would be a straight grain, probably a medium oak color and the upper dash either a straight grain or burl elm, like Packard used in the late 30's cars. The car will be a dark green with black fenders. Any suggestions and/or photos?
thanks

David Grubbs

1955 Hudson Hornet w/ Packard V8 for sale in Billings

The annual Roaring 20's auction will be held this Saturday, June 3rd in Billings MT. One of the cars up for sale is a 1955 Hudson Hornet with the Packard 320 ci engine, and probably an Ultramatic transmission. I have no idea on the reserve, but the car is a lovely pink and white (and probably gray) color scheme, so I'm sure that it won't bring as much money as the 64 Corvette also up for sale. The car is supposedly running, but I haven't seen it yet. Check in starts tomorrow, and I will be helping with that. So if anyone is interested in it as a Hudson, or a possible donor car, let me know. You can pm me for more info tomorrow evening. The auction accepts phone bids if anyone is interested. The website has a photo of it.
thanks.

thanks - did you notice in the photos of the engine that some of them show the engine looking tired and dirty, and other with it newly green with black manifolds (less carb) and new wiring? The guy also has a 64 Chevy Impala w/ a 409 for sale and it will be in the same auction.

1939 Six sedan at Salt Lake Auction

Hi guys - I got a call from a friend of mine who is an auctioneer. He has a 39 110 2 door sedan in an upcoming auction, and asked me some general Packard questions. The car is originally from Texas and has Texas plates. Any of you Texas Packard guys recognize the car? It's car #57 in the auction.

https://www.classiccarauction.us/car/?id=583

He also has a 38 120 sedan that is a nice looking car.

My Packards are gone, but I still have a soft spot for them!

My 39 120 had a similar switch pictured in the above post - it was fairly easy to put back in as long as you remove the front seat cushion and lay on the floor/seats. And can hold a flashlight in your teeth.....

That 39 six looks like a very nice car to have and enjoy as is.
