Breathing on the top of the 1934 fuel tank?

On the top of the 1934 fuel tank it is small welded construction with a diameter app 2``and height app 1``1/2.
Is ithis a float or a valve,?
I want to manufacture a new fuel tank, and therefore I`m wondering about how this item operate.

Part Number of rear drive shaft axle for 6 cylinder cars (426 to 526)?

Can someone inform me about the part number and the ID of the wheel bearing / shaft diameter for the above 3 mentioned parts on the 6 cylinder cars (426 to 526?

The reason is that I need a rear drive axle shaft and a brake drum to a 1929 Std 8 (626 & 633). I want to check if the 426 to 526 were delivered with the same part numbers.
Part numbers for 1929 Std 8 (626 & 633):
- 140390 Drive shaft
- 63165. Ball bearing (ID = 45mm , 1.77" , app 1" 25/32)
- 163028. Brake drum, ID = 16", 8 bolts

I have been through all Part List from 136 to 903. But no Std8 nor Su8 in all these years are equal to the above part numbers, and all these cars were either equipped with a larger ball bearing, part no 62580 (ID = 50mm, 1" 31/32), or two roller bearings.
!929 Std 8 (626 & 633) is the only 8 cylinder car with a 45mm ( 1" 25/32) wheel bearing.

My understanding is that a Phaeton is a 5 passenger, and the Touring is a 7 passenger car. Thanks for the dimension dawing which I assume is correct for a Phaeton. To make new bows I need more detailed information - the pattern of the outer curves and the location of the screws for the folding irons on each bow. For some years ago I made by myself new steam bend bows for both my 1929 Roadster and Touring.

By following this guideline to tune the engines, my 1934 1104 is adjusted to 19in,and my two 1929`s are adjusted between 17 and 18in. On one of the 29`I had to add 4deg spark advance to get a higher vacuum, by the same time having the engine to run smooth. A low compression engine should have a lower vacuum.

Since I came across this article I have always tuned the engines on my Packard's together with a vacuum gauge.

I changed from stamped to forged rocker arms on my 1929 633 Touring for some month ago. After changing the rollers and pins on the forged type, I measured, more or less by an accident, the center of the shaft to the center of the pin on the both type of rocker arms, L1 and L2 (see sketch). It was a surprise to detect that this measure was app 1mm longer on the forged type (I have forgot the exact figure). I checked lot of rocker arms. A longer rocker arm mean that the valves will open earlier, which will cause a wrong timing! According the tune-up guide for 1929-30 the inlet valve, cyl 1, shall open 20deg before top dead center (see mark on the flywheel). To get the valve opening according to this information, I had to turn the camshaft gear 1 tooth clockwise. The "0" marks on the camshaft and crankshaft gears are now moved with one tooth from each other. The engine run perfect.
I did also change from stamped to forged rocker arms on my 640 Roadster, and I had also there to move the camshaft with one tooth in clockwise direction.
I have looked into the Service Letters but I haven`t found any information about this topic.

Has anybody else had this experience, or are some cars running with wrong timing?

Owen, do you know where modified cartridge can be purchased? My housing is in execellent condition and I`m therefor trying to avoid replacing it with a new type.
