Call me when it is convenient. I researched this all the way for a 1933 engine and come up with some interesting information.

A Packard to enjoy now.
This straight 8 Packard One Twenty has never been abused or allowed to deteriorate. The doors fit right, the quarter panels are solid, mechanically it is in great condition, and the cosmetics are just right. There is no rust or signs of serious damage, although the left rear fender area was spot painted a long time ago. It probably won't be invited home to Pebble Beach, but neither will you have to worry about leaving it in front of a theatre, or favorite restaurant.
Sold new at Stahl Motors in Monterey; it still has the Stahl Motors license frames that were installed when license plates were downsized in 1956, and is registered until December 2010 on its black California plates from 1963.
The original Del Monte Forest badge from 1964 is still on the front bumper.
Wilshire Brown Metallic, and Andes Tan Metallic were the original colors and it appears to have been repainted once in colors very much the same. The interior is soft tan leather, and the top is a beautiful brown fabric. The plastic on the dash has a wonderful patina, and is not warped or broken.
The Packard radio, defroster foot-warmer, lights, instruments (except the clock) work properly. The vacuum operated power top works and there is no hydraulic fluid to leak or smell Even though it is on bias tires, it drives much better than many restored cars. The engine starts easily, does not smoke or overheat, pulls smoothly at low rpm; and even though there is no overdrive installed, it seems happy at 65mph. Its transmission shifts easily and the universal joints, drive shaft and rear axle work well together. In 1st and 2nd gears, the transmission sounds a bit like a Buick so I'd expect a worn countershaft bearing. An overdrive transmission and most of the parts to add this option to the car are included at the asking price. The brakes do not leak, pull or make strange noises.
There is quite a bit of documentation with the car; and it seems we are the fourth owner. The previous family owned it over 20 years, and we have enough paperwork to be nearly certain the car has always been here in central California.
We are an hour north of San Francisco; at Sebastopol, and Horizon-Alaska has direct connections from Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas and Los Angeles into Santa Rosa.
When you are here, you are welcome to run any kind of tests you like on the car, and if you like you can compare it to several other Packards. If you are new to old cars, we are willing to help direct you to sources for upgrades, parts or services that you might want to know about for future maintenance.

Hello,

I'm in the process of finishing a rebuild of our 33 Packard Super 8 and could use some help with the ignition. What is an Owens conversion? Is there anything new since the last (2009) posts on this subject? Thank you in advance for your help. Could I pay you to send a copy of your article? Daniel
