This boot cover is what I thought I had when I came across the folded up 'cover' that was with the car. I was surprised to find out it spans the whole passenger compartment and the 'boot' too.
Quote: Can you take a close up pictures of the top and bottom of this cover? Here are a few pictures of the inside/outside of a portion of the side, and one of the back corners. (The snaps indicate inside vs outside) The inside/outside images are paired up with the same snaps If might be the same as the outer top material, will check closer later. -zeroCool

The dress is definitely 👍 Zircon!
Leeedy, ...so is this the second or third known origin top on the planet. My heart started racing when I lifted the seam and saw that beautiful blue. Then I got nervous about how I need to not screw up attempts at cleaning it. Do I even attempt it? Is just knowing that it is original enough? I really want to see it in its original condition. I'm Torn. (But the top is not torn.) -zeroCool p.s. kinda felt like I was peeking up the girl's skirt hem.

As seen in some of the previously posted pictures, there are snaps along the dash at the bottom of the windshield. They are also found along the top of the door edge, at the bottom of the side windows all the way back to the back seat.
Also what I thought was just a cover for the convertible top (boot cover) that would fit in the black bag that was in the trunk, is much larger than I originally thought. I had not unfolded it until just today. When I unfolded it, I found that it is large enough to cover the car from the front of the dashboard to the top of the trunk. It also has a zipper splitting the cover back to the top of the front seat. This would allow the driver to unzip and uncover the steering wheel and drivers seat, while keeping the remainder of the seating covered. Was that a factory option or is that aftermarket add-on? Is this the boot cover that goes in the boot cover bag? I thought the boot cover would only cover the folded down top. Seems too large to go in the boot cover bag. Maybe a tight fold job and it could squeeze in?!? Below is an overview from the rear end of the 'cover' showing the open zipper and a pocket for the top of the steering wheel. The second picture below is just the front half of the cover taken from the windshield end. Here the steering wheel pocket is stood up. -zeroCool p.s. still figuring out exactly what Uncle Larry had.

I said the inside of the top was white(not clean) but with the flash it looks different. Could it be possible that it is zircon? Now I need better lighting and peeking at the edges more. It's like that "what color is this dress" picture that was blowing up the internet not long ago.
How else could I determine if the top is original or replacement? -zeroCool

Here are a few more 'before' shots. These are of the inside of the convertible top. I still have trouble believing that it was replaced within the 6 years that it was driven.

Leeedy,
Thanks for the pointers. Still new with all the terms & descriptions with antique cars. It is 'antique' right? (older than classic, younger than vintage I believe) I am seeking professional advice at all steps along the way. This is a major reason I am 'here' because I want to "Ask the Man Who Owns One." Got to love this site! As for the top, well its white(dirty grey) on the outside and white(not clean) on the inside. It feels like multiple layers and does not leak when she got her first bath in Florida. So it appears to be a replacement, an old replacement. Older than 1961, so I still need to exercise care with it. -zeroCool

I notice what looks like the boot bag behind the spare tire in the trunk. Good eye on the boot bag. That is exactly what that was. I recognized it as 'old' but imagined that it was some sort of tool pouch. Now I know. It is a kind of rubberized canvas. The black outer coating easily rubs off, so it will never get close to the white canvas cover again. Quote: The picture of your daughter getting into the car, looks like the top boot to the left of her. Did that make the trip? The boot cover is also with the car. I will spread it out and get some pictures soon. Quote: I see convertible snaps on the front dash trim. I wonder if he had a cover for the car when the top was down? Well there are also snaps on the top edge of the doors. I think there might have been a over the dash/seats cover, but I have never see it. Quote: I don't see a lock for the glovebox? Right, the glovebox lock is still missing and there is a cardboard box behind the door. I'll look on top/behind it when I can for the build codes. The pictures show that the ignition switch is missing, but it is there, just behind the dash. I did purchase a NOS pair of locks for the glovebox and trunk(with flipper helmet) that are keyed the same. Those will arrive this week. The now 'extra' trunk lock will become a spare part, maybe available for trade/sale later. I did just get a key made for the original trunk lock after I picked it and took it to a locksmith. The locksmith glanced at the lock cylinder and said "Ilco 1098L." I will bring him the ignition or door cylinder next. The key for one should fit the other, right? -zeroCool

One week later...
Sorry Chevy fans, Ford came to the rescue to pull her south to Florida. But we are all Packard fans here! The Caribbean script logo was a little loose. You can see where I taped it down for the ride. Would have hated to have that blow off in the middle of Georgia someplace. -zeroCool Attach file: (444.48 KB) (348.54 KB) (400.25 KB) (305.19 KB) (275.49 KB) (273.05 KB) (336.31 KB) (276.96 KB) (280.19 KB)

Here are a few pictures of the 'extraction' and loading onto a trailer. Note that the combination of the hill and placing the Caribbean too far forward caused the failure of the Suburban's air shock on one side. That delayed the ride south by a week.
My Daughter was skinny enough to be able to slip in and be the 'driver' while winching the Caribbean onto the trailer. The brakes seemed to work but the rear driver tire was unable to hold air. We dragged that one with plywood skid up the ramp. Attach file: (343.21 KB) (314.95 KB) (390.86 KB) (368.35 KB) (142.58 KB) (156.21 KB) (282.08 KB) (415.13 KB) (436.33 KB)
