A beautiful boat. You buy it (and, for a paltry sum, maintain it.) I think all of us on the forum will be thrilled to share a ride. My recollection is that GarWood Boats was the main competitor to Chris Craft, who had the lead in prestige.

Anyway, a beautiful boat. I had pictures of some when I was a kid.

Thanks for the post.

Series 526 Oil FillerRemoval

I'd like to remove the oil filler tube on my car. To do that, I think need to remove or release the screen inside the filler neck. Can someone tell me how to do that? I don't want to damage it by taking the wrong approach.
Thanks,
Phil

Karl,

I am thoroughly impressed. The work you are doing and the care you are taking is outstanding. I look forward with excitement to see the finished product. Did you make the gaiters yourself?

Re: Mechanical fuel pump and electric is it possible?

I have read a number of posts on the AACA forum where people have installed low pressure electric pumps in series with mechanical ones not only for the reasons described above, but to deal with vapor lock problems arising from ethanol-containing gas and hot suer days. It seems like a good way to go would be to use the electric pump to get some gas into the carburetor for starting, and turn it off. Turn it back on temporarily if vapor lock occurs.

Wouldn't the beginning digit 6 give it away as not correct for that year?

That is a handsome car. I'm glad you have it operational. I have an older Packard that I don't fully trust yet, either. i hope with more driving and more fiddling, I will get it to the point it and I trust each other fully. Thanks for posting.

Gar,

This was posted on the AACA Technical forum by Trini on Sept. 17, 2019. It may help:

“Classic Exotic Service Inc.2032 Heide dr. Troy MI 480845510 , U S  restores the Watson shocks. My 28 DB Senior has them.  Classic Restorations Supplies in California sells the belt.”

Before you try to remove the horn button, check where the horn wire exits the lower end of the steering column. It's that portion of the wire extending from there to the horn that is most likely shorted. Also check the connections at the horn. There is a possibility of a leak to ground there.
Good luck!
