Speaking of Cruise-ins, have you noticed how many people ask "what model is that"? Of course they mean "what year is that".
If I said my car is a model 1801 I would get a blank stare and a follow up question about the year. I always tell them it is a 1940 and they smile. No need to be a smarta**.

Following an engine rebuild on my '40 8cyl, my mechanic and I looked for a timing hole on the bell housing. None to be found! What's going on here? Is this typical? Being a pro, my mechanic set the timing an old fashioned way. He got it right on the first try.

The running boards were taken to a shop specializing in
Rhino lining. I know there are many of them and they
seem to take care of pickup truck beds primarily. The
material used is rubberized and seems to be indestructible.
Unable to buy covers from Steele or anybody else I contacted
someone who was restoring a '40 1810. He said that he applied
fiberglass to his boards to make them smooth and then used
flat rubber used in bus walkways to cover. I wanted to retain
the washboard effect on my boards and went for Rhino lining.
It looks great!

This is the wheel I have on my car in your foto.
Since I am a senior maybe I deserve this wheel,
but my car is definitely not a Senior Packard.
If someone wants to trade this wheel for a 1940
banjo I would be happy to oblige. Mine is in
excellent condition having been restored recently.

I have a 1940 1810 Touring Sedan with what I believe
is an incorrect steering wheel. It has an "H" pattern
and I would like to know from what year & model
the wheel came.
Thanks for info.
