Windshield Wipers on 1956 "400"

The windshield wipers on my 1956 "400" don't work, although they do try to move a tiny bit. I'm wondering what the usual fix is for this problem.

Thank you, also, Owen. I have printed out both messages and will use them when I make a try at adjusting this.

Ultramatic Shifting

The Ultramatic in my 1956 Packard 400 shifts properly until it gets into high, then shifts immediately into the overdrive. This results in the engine "lugging" at low rpms. If I depress the accelerator a bit, it will shift back down, but I'm wondering whether there is an adjustment to hold it out of that top gear longer.

"No Title" can be a problem in Indiana (experience talking).

I seem to remember being told or reading many years ago that the whistle warning was called the "Scully Ventalarm" and was a Packard selling feature for the period. My '47 and '49 both have it and, like some above, I wish the '56 did.

HH56 drawing is really helpful in understanding how it works. Never had seen that before. Thanks!

I bought Diamondback radials for my 23rd-Series Deluxe Eight sedan about three years ago. I have been very happy with the ride and handling. When I replace the tires on the '56 400, I'll buy another set of Diamondbacks.

The Indiana Region of CCCA has partnered with D-A Lubricants in Indianapolis to produce Classic Car Motor Oil. It has the correct zinc and phosphorus amounts for our older flat-tappet engines. I've used it in my cars for several years now with good results. The Indiana Region, CCCA, will ship the oil to you if you like in 12-quart cases.

Here's their website:https://inrccca.org/product/classic-car-motor-oil/

The website is really informative.

Good luck!

Our 23rd Series Deluxe Eight Sedan has a set of Diamondback radials. We put about 800 miles on them on the Henry Joy Tour in the fall of 2018. We had zero problems and the tires are still standing tall. The ride qualities and handling of the car were dramatically improved.
