It is model number 2362 and the brass tag is still there. I'll check it out to make sure that it matches when i head to my fathers house.

As far as the the part in Pic#1, We already have the swith light in and functional as well as the maplights and glove box. I'll double check on the cigar lighter but that looked to be ok. plus the brown part is card board, making it more odd.

I have 2 questions really. The first is regarding the placement of the piece in the first pic. I can't figure out from the resources or my memory where it is remounted.
Any help would be awesome.

Second, in the next pic is my Carburetor. I know that i am missing the choke control on the side facing the shot. It is a black cap i think. My question is, What am i trying to order? Do i need a carb kit or can i just order the piece? If i can just get that piece from kanter or max, what exactly am i asking for?

Sorry, i'm still new to this.

Ok the brakes are in and functional. Brake lights are good as well as the horn.

I'm going to try and make some stand in door panels and cover the seats with something simple until the holidays are done (and paid off) before i splurge on the reupolstering. We are probably going to drop the gas tank and clean that out next as well as maybe start on cutting out the cancer on the floor.

I'm going to refinish the dash with something plain, but nice until i can afford to have the wood finish redone profesionaly. I'll have to post a pic of my sad attempts at wood graining. I think i did ok, but I'd rather do a good job on something easier than a bad job. I'll save my money for when i have a house (garage) to do the full restore. I'm going to bring her back to life and make her a driver until i have a real place to work. I'm jealous of the cars being brought back to the real status of a packard, while mine is years from that. Oh well, at least one less amazing car will continue to rot away forgotten.

I think she'll be on the 99 again by my birthday. (feb)

Personally:
A house w/2 car garage, but just a garage would be nice :)

But if my wife is reading this....
then the parts list i need is on the work bench. the link to the parts dealers is here, to the left :)

I need to find my camera and show the some of the cleaned up chrome. We have gotten the new wiring in and taped up in the engine department. We now have functioning:
1. Headlights & Highbeams
2. Parking Lights and turn signals, front and back
3. Ignition system
4. Generator and Charge gauge
5. Dashlights, Courtesy lights and interior lights
6. License plate light
7. Oil pressure gauge, though it appears to be reading backwards
8. Overdrive system

We have the wires run but not full hooked up:
1. Gas Tank/ gauge
2. Horn
3. Brake light switch
4. Heater blower

We also have an extra light fixture that we are almost positive we pulled from the dash. We cant figure out (remember) where it goes. I'll post a pic soon in the main forum for help placing it, as soon as i find that dang camera.

The brakes arrived from Kanter, and we will put them in this weekend. The only operational parts i need to get now is an Air Cleaner (?oil bath is what think it is), Choke control for the carb (that's the black cap on the side of the carb, right?), and a Heater control valve.

I wish I could put sound on here and you could all hear how well she runs. Its just amazing. Going from cold and silent to slowly filling with life is just to much fun.

After narrowly escaping a 15 hour shopping trip with the Mrs's on black friday. My father in-law and I retreated to the garage a day earlier than planed and set to starting the rewiring job. It took all day but we got all the major engine essential parts wired in; ignition, starter, carb, generator, as well as the charge gauge and the temp gauge. The only part we didn't know if it was still functioning was the generator. We had gotten the engine to run earlier, now we had to see if the whole system was working properly from key to running.

I would like to title the remaining part of this entry as "You push on WHAT to start it?"

So we quickly realized that the key didn't have a start setting. After spending half a second looking for a button we each went our own ways. While i the novice went to the owners manual, my father went to the wire chart and and figured it out as fast as i did.

The gas pedal, huh? I think that should be in bigger letters somewhere with exclamation points. then again I am the novice.

We had been wondering what the switch and the ball bearing were in the carb. Crazy Packard people. After that Key was on and we pushed on the pedal and she turned over and started up. After starting it 6 or so times each, chuckling over how cool that is, we checked the gauges. I am happy to report a functioning generator and temp gauge and the engine system is running fine. Now to finish the wiring and get the break parts. I tried to order the brake parks last week but i just missed most of the locations and they were all down for the holidays. I'll try and get those this week.
