Arrived in Salado today just as the 630 supper was being served up. But was unable to bring Clipper Jack with me.
We left SD early Wednesday morning and arrived in Bolivar, MO at my brother Ray's (the secret location of Hillbilly Packard Brothers). Tinkered on the 41 on Wednesday and Thursday, but without sufficient success to bring it down to TX.
Saw JWs 47 Clipper (maroon) with a For Sale sign in the window. Wish my name was "Sale."
Will go back in the morning to see cars and swap meet. I will try to post a few photos from TX for all of you to enjoy.
Here is an old photo of my Clipper Jack from 2009 National in Brandon, MO.
More later,
Dan Leininger

Yes, foolishly overpriced.
No danger of me picking this one up.

And while I am a worshipper of authenticity...
...
there are times I would long to have a beautiful Packard with 12V system, A/C, and all the luxuries that are now necessities
on our highways that would still cruise the interstates at 70-75 mph all day ...

I guess none of you other PI posters have such sacrilegious thoughts, and Pack-religious fantasies as I do.

But I could do MY fantasy for less money than this Matchbox Packard.

Thanks for all the encouragement from John and Mr. Ride Decide.
I have started making plans, maintenance and repairs.

I liked Kevin's comment about real driver cars. I have two old "drivers". My Clipper Jack and a 1939 LaSalle survivor. I have never owned a car that was TOO nice to drive.

We'll, Salado it is. Now I need to get my brother (from HillBilly Packards ) down there too.

The A/C appears to grow into a group project.
Involving lots of Christmas elves.

It is snowing here in South Dakota.
May look like the North Pole by Morning.
Merry Christmas -- early!

I am sure the Kevin can figure out this unit.
I have seen only one A/C that was in the trunk of a 1941 - 160.
I am just glad to see responses for this thread, whether parts, donations, good wishes -- they all count.

Kevin is a cool guy, but even a cool guy needs A/C in LA & So Cal.

Keep up the support!

JW,
Thanks for the heads up.
I have always enjoyed the posts and pictures from Salado since joining PI.
I wanted to attend and promised to do that when I retire.
Well, I retired last month, so I will put it on my calendar.

Now, will I bring my 41 Clipper or not? Tow? Drive?
I will work on that in coming months.

Jim Hollingsworth told me about the Salado Meet at my first Packard meet in Des Moines in 2008. His death was a great loss
He befriended me and encouraged me to keep working on my 41 Clipper before he restored his. I had the privilege of being on the judging team that gave his 41 a First place. See photo link below of our two 41 Clippers at Brandon meet.

https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=5523

Long story, BUT now I need to get to work on getting to Salado.
I would enjoy meeting Jim's friends and the four Packard Clubs. My state (SD) does not have a Packard club.
I am only 992 miles away from Salado here in SD. but my Clipper is at my brothers place in MO,
just a mere 587 miles from Salado. !!!!

Thanks Again
Dan

Flackmaster,

I just sent $50 via PayPal.
My PayPal comment was "A/C Xmas for Kevin"

I have not been active on Packard Info in last two years.
BUT I greatly appreciate Kevin's work and this website.
I have relied on others comments, posts and the vast information available here.

I am a recipient of Kevin's generosity. He has gifted us all by establishing, expanding and supporting this website over the years.

SO, Merry Christmas, BIG KEV.

I agree its a 42 dash for all reasons cited already.
Also, here are 2 old photos of my 41 Clipper front seat and steering wheel. Rectangular instrument gauges.

The December 2012 issue of the Cormorant News Bulletin has a nice tribute article on Jim Hollingsworth. It is on page 5 with three photos.

There are several hilarious stories about his life-sized stuffed gorilla, Greta, that occasionally rode in his Packard to the Salado TX meet. Greta got lots of "thumbs up" from passers-by on the highway as well as screams from surprised cleaning maids who came up her sitting in the motel room or bath.

Great sense of humor.
