Helping a friend with his 1947 Custom. Everything was in perfect working order mechanically when he put it up for winter last Nov. It starts, runs beautifully but we're having trouble getting it to go into reverse, 1st and 3rd gear. Everything looks in order. He doesn't do computers. Where should we start to trouble shoot? I'm no expert for sure so please be specific as you can.

So most didn't but some actually could have, right? This Packard history can be confusing or at the least a non-exact science. :)

Also, where do you find the 2106 number at?

Lastly, are there any secret places to look around on a 47 Custom Super Clipper for additional info? I'm close enough to one and I'm going to see if I can out of curiosity, owner is a nice guy.

On that 47 Custom Super Clipper--Is the body tag number the same as the number on the data plate? I'm talking about the one when you lift the hood that is on the driver's side on the aluminum plate thing.

Were all bodies from 46-54 built by Briggs?

I heard about a Budd body tag that might be on a 47 Packard custom super clipper. What is that and where is it located? Did they all have them?

We only have 4 straps so I was thinking on each corner of the car is best? Forgive my ignorance but when you say axle you do mean the big piece that each wheel is connected to? Also, what does the stabalizer bar look like and where exactly is it? I do t want to use it by mistake.
Thanks

I've got to help a friend load a 48 or 49 Custom 8 Wednesday on a trailer. The trailer is 83 inches wide. Is that wide enough for this model Packard? Also, he said he has those rachet tie down straps. What do we need to put those on when tieing it down? Frame, suspension? Any pics would be great as I'm not sure what's the best way.
Thanks
