David I hope to get the old engine back today. I'll take a picture of it when I get it back.

Hopefully this will be a short mystery. The engine in my '37 was replaced in the 40s I suspect so it was not an original. Upon evaluation it and the head had cracks. So I bought an NOS 282 block for my 1937 Sport Coupe. It has been to the machine shop and is ready for assembly. This is where "IT" hits the fan.
I went to install the tappets and found my old ones were 5/8" in diameter. The NOS block had 1". I figure this in not going to be fixed with a bushing or 3/8" caulk. I check around and find out later model blocks have larger diameter tappets. So I buy tappets. Further research reveals that the water pump is also different. I bought one. It doesn't fit. The original one fits though.
I built a rotisserie engine stand that carried both ends of the original engine. Once the mounts were positioned I welded the mounting arms in position. Now I tried to install the mount on the front of the NOS block and the holes don't line up. The Flackmaster has been involved but he is stuck. So I'm throwing it out to the group.
What is this block?

I have a 282 out of my '37 Sport Coupe. It is not the original. I replaced it with another NOS 282. My old lifters don't fit the NOS block. The old lifters are 5/8th in diameter and the NOS block has 1" holes fro the lifters. I haven't found anything on engine model numbers here so I'm probably asking a repeat question.
Part two would be is the cam shaft the same in both engines?
Part three is there anything else that will not fit?
