Call Max Merritt and talk to them. Fred is very knowledgable and will help you. Much of what they have is NOT listed on line...800-472-2573 or 317-736-6233. When we were getting our 49 up to speed, they were great. Ernie in Arizona

Good Evening...I suggest that you trace the linkage from your gas pedal to the carburetor and see if it has become disconnected...or a return spring has come loose. This does not sound to me like a lube issue. Most likely not a serious issue...just one that needs to be traced and reconnected...Ernie in Arizona

Good morning. We drive a 23rd series. We find OO cables with a second ground cable necessary, then a strong battery…and clean connections all the way to clean points make a Hugh difference. Recently Miss Prudence turned over slower than usual. A new battery with 800 cold cranking amps and she fired right up. Fast cranking to pull fuel, careful use of the choke…You machine sounds to me like weak battery as she does fine when primed and warm. Ernie in Arizona

Good afternoon...The enterior of the cooling system inside the engine can also be quite filthy. On our 49-288, we finally removed the freeze plugs and put the head of a power washwer into the interior and my goodness what stuff came out of the lower hose! Engine was much happier...Also the same sort of pressure needs to be applied to the interior of the head...Ernie in Arizona

Let’s see if David Packard checks in on this subject. Ernie in Arizona…Not far from David.

Good Evening…I have been driving our 23rd Series 288 weekly for eleven years. Miss Prudence has an annual oil change with Mobil 1 - 10-30. She receives Marvel Mystery Oil according to the instructions on the bottle. Never a problem of anything sticking or running rough if the points are clean. Ernie in Arizona
