Hi Howard,
I'll try to contact him. Thanks. Yes I'm doing it on my -56 Clipper. Engine overhauled and the new gearbox are joined together and painted. Looks nice but has been like that for a year now since I have very little time to work on it. Going to lift the body from the frame and change all rubbers so it's kind of much work... Hi all,
does anybody have any experience of the Bentsen Straight 8 transmission adapter? Is there space for a GM 2004R in a 1953 Convertible without any changes/cutting? Need to stay stock so I can easily swap back to original. I do a lot of miles and need a gearbox with overdrive. Thanks Jan

Thanks Ross. Is that Ross as in Ross Miller?
I?ll try to get a 12V 35amp fuse for now until I get home. I?ll also clean the contacts on the regulator. Thanks again. Jan

HELP!
I?m 2600 miles from home in my 1953 Convertible and having some issues. A few days ago it stopped charging. I had over 7V going out from dynamo but not at battery. Did a polarisation and got 7,5 - 8 V at battery. Today I tried to open my window and it stopped after one inch and was completely dead. Switched everything off and the BAT was lit when ignition was off. Did a polarisation again and BAT went off like normal when starting. The windows and top still completely dead. Went "home"(summer house) and localised the problem to a circuit breaker on the hydraulic pump. Question 1: Is my Charging relay giving up? Or my dynamo? Question 2: How many amp is this circuit breaker? Would that be the same in 12V? as things for 6V is impossible to find urgently here. Starting my 2600 miles drive home on Monday so I need to sort this out quickly. Thanks Jan stranded in J?rvs?, Sweden

Thinking a little bit more about it, I really like your idea Howard. Will check it out when I do the job.

Interesting point Howard.
But I guess it's easier to adjust the length of travel (length of arm on carb) in this position instead of having something going paralell with the cable. The cable is not an on/off cable. As far as I understand it measures the accelerator position and has to be adjusted so the second gear goes in around 15-20 mph. /Jan

Hi,
I got the plate to put under the carb from Bendtsen and the TV cable fixing in the kit with the gearbox from Transmission Depot. I guess I can just put a piece going out in an angle from the plate and drill some holes to put the fixing. Not a big issue. Just waiting for a gearbox jack (was supposed to be delivered last Friday) and then I will start the job. /Jan

Yes Stewart. They told me. Here are a couple of pics I got from Bentsen how the TV-cable connects to the carburettor.
