1924 Serie 1 Waterpump
Home away from home
Home away from home

Karl
Here the way I rebuild the Waterpump for my 1924 Sport Phaeton. Some nice guy glued all pieces with 2 compound glue tougether and fixed it with Silicon into the engine block.
For rebuild the shaft I used the repair kit from the Ford Model A. The shaft has exact the same diameter as the packard shaft and he is long enough to bring him on the right size. The impellerends are silver soldered to fill up the missing material. Missing parts for housing are reuild and weldet on place and cut out bei a mill.

David, thanks a lot. Today I found a picture of a 1924 Packard Viktoria. There was also a picture which confirmed your information about the Data Plate. The Car is a left hand driver. What means ... the steering is on the "right" side !! . On the picture you can see the steering column and the data plate. It looks like the plate is on the same place as on the right hand driver model. Would be great if you can give me the locating dimensions.

Re: '38 V12 Waterpump

Karl
...sorry , I have not enough knowledge about the 38 Waterpump, but... the question about the color is also importand for my 1924 Waterpump. Im right in the middle to restore this piece and will post some pictures next days. On the original factory picture (black and white) you can see that the Waterpunp is light grey ... nearly the same color as the engine but not black like the Generator. So .. who knows the answers for the Waterpump-Colors ??

1924 Mechanical Foot-Brake, ST, Parts & Adjustment
Home away from home

Karl
I need information about the adjustment for the mechanical foodbrake ..front and rear.
I have the Technical Letter No. 1781. These instruction give me the information that I need
some "Special Tools" to adjust front and rear lever. I got also the List of the "Special Tools" which shows this tools. (Thank you David on this place ....) Can someone give me the messurements of this tools , so that I can build this tools or is there any information or messurments for an easyer way to bring the lever into the right position.
Additional I need Informations about the rear brakeband construction. I believe there is some parts missing. Take a lock on the picture ... there is no sidecover at the brassblock (parts No:
119085 or 130153) but I can see on parts No. 106178 & 48867 that there is somthing like that in the partslist page 30. No idea if this is to cover the "Rear Axle Brake Band Anchor Bracket" on both sides of this Brassblock. But there has to be something .. otherwise this Grease Nipple on top make no sense if this part is "open".
I?ll be happy if someone can post a picture who shows the "original" situation on this Brakebands for my 1924 Sport Pheaton.

David, .. Dave ... thanks a lot for your informations. Now I?m calm that there is no mistake in that parts. David your spare rockers looks much better than my one. But meanwhile they are
wire arc spraying with molybdenum and they looks great. Only grinding and polish and the surface is much stronger than the old forged ones.
I?ll post the pics if they are ready to install.

1924 Sport-Oilcircuit
Home away from home

Karl
There is something what I dont understand. I?ll try to make me understanding with my lousy english. There are some holes into the rocker levershaft on the place where the rockerarm bushings are working. Usualy the levershaft is connectet with the engine oilcircuit. But I cant find any connection to the circuit. There are holes on each place of the rockerarms and one hole opposite to all other ones into the shaft at his end. But there is no hole into the engine block which connect the shafts to the circuit. How the rockerarms be supplied with oil.??
If the rockers are supplied by oilspray from the crank ... why are the holes into the shafts ?

... there was this Trico Vacuum Wiper motor into my1924 Packard Sport my car. Does somebody knows what kind of "grease" is inside around the paddle (rubber seal)? I think it has to be acid-free and very liquidly.

Karl
I did the same like Ross, no problem to remove that nut with an impact wrench but some little problems to remove the spider wheel. Because I dont have this original Spider Puller .. I build my own one.
