please keep in mind that these comments are based on the 22nd series , not 21st.

Lowell Gray was carried over, but not in two tone combination, for the 22nd. I have seen restored cars with a very good match to the original shade (dark gray with fine metallic).

The Eight came with a check - a three shades of brown houndstooth. To my knowledge there is no authentic reproduction. There is a Lebaron Bonney (Mercury?) repro that is a larger check.

The Eight DeLuxe and Super Eight used a striped broadcloth. You may be able to match this type. The tip in sending a small piece is a very good one. The patterns are typical of period upholstery.

I've seen good results with spray polyurethane, but it won't duplicate pattern that wasn't echoing thhe steel pressing. I don't think anyone sprays rubber. There are rubber kits that are adhered to the steel - some have gone out of production. The rubber is vulcanized but that's not how it was stuck to the steel.

I used a card like this at general meets and it is a nice conversation starter. People are generally surprised to hear Packard offered AC, power seats, power windows, OD before WWII

The lock-up clutch in an automatic was an unusual advanced feature. (I assume this version of Ultramatic still has it). The quality of the interior vs a modern car is striking in the Patrician. Chrome wire wheels were also an option, weren't they (although rarely seen on a Patrician)

I think the cost point question is to be clear about sedans (Cad 62 and 60S, Imperial, Lincoln, Patrician) vs Luxury cars. The later includes the continental, Eldorado, and Caribbean whcih all cost more than a Patrician

Flint may be a good alternate airport. The Detroit airport in SE of town, the proving grounds are to the north

why bother drawing circles and calculating between circumference and diameter? The ratio of two circles' diameters is the same as the ratio of their circumferences.

C1/C2 = pi*D1/pi*D2 = D1/D2

I agree with Jack - how many times do you hear that skid marks indicate the driver stopped as quickly as he could, when not locking the wheel is the idea? Modifying the IRS Ford/Jaguar platform to a live axle for one generation of the Mustang. One brief experiemnt on Corvette with OHC then back to OHV.

I must disagree on a minor point - the rear steering (in-phase at high speed, out of phase at low speed!) was put on the Mitsubishi sports GT (3000 VR?)years before the trucks. The conclusion was the same - performance/cost/complexity not warranted/appreciated

You'll probably need to let people know if it's a Super 8 or a Custom 8
