Leedy,

Thank you for that information. I always enjoy the knowledge you bring to light. Given your passion for Packards, why dont you make some videos to post on Youtube for the masses to be educated on the matter of Packards?

Videos are the new media people are using to share information. So why not set the record straight on some common misconceptions with Packards so there can be a greater appreciation for the vehicles?

Gotcha,

If you look through my thread on my "Vacation Car" in the project section you can see some pictures of the pressure plate attached to the packard Flywheel. I used a chevy truck clutch disc and a ford pressure plate.

It is indeed a column shifted trans. I also have the R11 electronic overdrive that included a lock out knob. It would automatically go into overdrive at around 37 mph and would only come out if you floor it to pass someone or drop below that 37 mph mark.

If you want an idea of how the linkages worked if you go onto Max Merritt's website they offer illustrations of how the parts went together. Just go to their 55-56 illustrations and click their Clutch/Trans section.

If you look through my thread you will be able to see some photos, but like I said, its a work in progress.

What "inside" photos are you asking for? The 56 patrician I am working on was converted to a manual from a parts car.

The car is still in pieces but slowly being put back together

Drill or pull out the rivets and replace with little brass screws and nuts. Done. The OD relay I repaired on my '51 for the '99 Centennial is still AOK. Not so sure about the cube relay.

Ross,

Do I need to insulate either of the screws once I drill out the rivets on the overdrive relay? Or is everything okay to just replace with screws and I am good to go?

I was able to button up a couple things this past weekend:

I was able to install the front wheel seals and set the preload on the front bearings. I Got the harmonic balancer installed again, I just need to paint the a/c pulleys before all that gets torqued down. I got the fuel fittings selected to plump up the thunderbird fuel pump, I got the crankcase ventilation tube installed, oil sending unit installed and wired up. Got the temp sending unit wired up. I got the carb installed and the linkage attached. I got the rear parking brake cable installed and only the front one on partially. I didnt have the adjustment mount that connects the cable to the equalizer lever, I was able to source that from Max Merrit.

When it comes to the brake hoses and cylinders:

Right rear: WC9026 - 84-87 Dodge Ram Chager right rear

Left Rear: WC9025 - 84-87 Dodge Ram Charger left rear

Left Front: WC18290 - 50-56 Ford Country Squire Left front

Right Fron: WC18291 - 50-56 Ford Country SQUIRE Right front

I used the same brake hoses front and rear. I believe one of them should be shorter than the other, but the lengths and fitting ends seem to work okay:

Brake hose: BH11146 - 72-73 Jeep Wagoneer front

I dont believe the fuel line would work in my application. I am running a ford Y block fuel pump that has an integrated vacuum pump to run the wipers since I did the Olds oil pump conversion

Is there a place to get a boot for the clutch fork? Basically the seal that seals the clutch fork to the bellhousing. I dont see it listed on kanter or steele rubber

thank you for that explanation Howard. I dont believe I will get time to look at this before it goes to Ross.

isnt this control switch able to be sent out to be converted over to solid state electronics? or am I thinking of another component of the suspension system?
