I suppose this means that a transverse setup is out of the question? For the compact Packard....the Packard mini....

What you mean is that instead of a pot of gold incoming, you have a pot of gold outgoing....

I'm thinking soon after WW2. Could this have been the unique powerplant to accelerate them ahead?

What would have been the disadvantages?

Would this have minimized the need for new tooling?

I see design accentuating longer hoods to celebrate the difference.....

Think a six liter type 57 engine.....

Not thinking an ardun head of sorts; a new engine....

I'm thinking 300 hp in 1950.....naturally aspirated....

When you are talking to someone who might be interested in old cars, they don't want to hear all the negatives.

The essence of the news goes well beyond actual news, with scandal being a sure ratings booster.

It's an interesting idea; we need more scandals to gain publicity. Perhaps we could acquire fame by being the preferred car for grumpy old men?

Rather than be querulous, think what you can do positively....

FWIW, here in Illinois we have lately heard a number of horror stories involving titling. Thus far the secy of stae (our DMV) is getting the brunt of the criticism, although homeland security is also being criticized.

It used to be that going to a knowledgeable currency exchange would solve most problems....

Why the apparent hysteria over such old cars? I don't see the threat???????

Our state is so broke that the absolute last thing on its mind should be tilting with windmills...

I don't mean this to be rude, but this is all old news.

Have you taught anyone to drive a stick shift car? At least your grandchildren?

Have you been unfailingly and enthusiastically friendly to those who show interest? One way is to give away postcards of your car; it's cheap and easy.

Have you kept your various dislikes to yourself? That's the difficult one. Nobody wants to hear negatives. Nothing makes you more of an old fart!

Speaking only for myself, if this is the time to reunite the two clubs, I('m all for it and welcome new members to the Packard club...

The split was both silly and offensive; hopefully we are all older and wiser.

Welcome aboard!

Mike can be found at

It works better if you talk to him in person rather that leave messages.

If you are avoiding him for fear of cost, relax. He is honest and reasonable.

Removed the number so it doesn't cause him problems. Will PM it asap.
