Re: Custom Packard 1500/1501/1502/1605 Convertible Question

Another tip - prewar Packard interiors used things like leather , wool broadcloth, and Bedford cord. Not polyblends and vinyl. The difference in material cost is substantial, but most of reupholstery is labor.

As a generality, most Packard-philes value originality and are knowledgeable about authenticity. So-called "upgrades" that involve metal cutting and drive train changes don't go over. If you want to sell to the rod crowd, buy a Chevy/Ford to start with and save money.

having made this trip or something close to it many times, regardless of whether the Packard rides or drives, the faster/shorter way is through Ontario (unless the car is near Toledo) so have the paperwork right for the two border crossings!

regarding the row of sedans: proportion of rear door/window to front looks like the 127" wb. Senior front bumper and tail-lights. Hood louver crest looks like the small crest in a white field, not cloissonn?. 160.
military order - appears to have no stainless around the windshield

The extra insulation in the roof is pretty easy to do (even I managed). Current materials do not look identical, but once the headliner is in they do!

the only time the first gear non-synchro is an issue for me is: get used to driving modern all-synchro, get sloppy, get in old iron, make that nasty sound at first corner, chastise self, correct driving.

I have zero problem with what you choose to do with your car. Really. It's just not "restoration" - I have a thing about language. I'm not inferring it's an inferior thing, just a different thing. I hope it comes out as you want.

The exterior brightwork was chrome (or stainless of course).

I hope this is not too provocative, but if you are "restoring" it, why is the driveline for sale?

Just my opinion, but I'm not aware of any factory 2-tone color codes that year. The cars are not designed with natural break lines for color (like the wrap around belt trim on the 41's). Could an owner get it done? Probably yes, for a fee. How likely was that to happen on a 115?

I got my 356 hose from ordinary autoparts store that handles Gates.
