Re: Black Paint

I believe so. While there are different casts of black (blue shade and brown shade), in production they are all about the same. I was in a modern factory that made spoilers for Chrysler, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Ford. The black ones were all painted from the same drum of paint.

An insert in the mold, like a straw, could make the hole. If you hand lay some mat to make the hole, that will work too, although wetting it out will be a bit tricky. Fiberglas is chopped glass fiber in a (usually) polyester matrix. The glass fiber will give a rougher surface and is unnecessary for strength in this part.

Fiberglas is not the right material to use, an unreinforced material will give a better surface. There are a lot of 22-23rd series cars - a parts car may be the easiest way

Try calling Steele and see if they still have the tooling (I'm assuming they were the manufacturer, I don't know that for sure).

If it's only the front bottom I'd look at upholstering just that item. places like SMS and Hirsch will send swatches of closest match

A little wood glue and pieces of broken wood toothpicks will also do the trick. Otherwise the holes can be plugged with a wood dowel, then redrilled.

both work, but a wood plug would be better than a dowel because the grain runs in the same direction as the original part

beware listings claiming fit to all 41 Packards - the Clipper and traditional bodies were both in production that year and in 42.

I think you will have more success getting a carpet dyed. Carpet production machines do long runs.

It seems you already know that sidemounted cars had different springs. I would be very surprised if there was any change from 41 to 42.

The factory visor curves at the ends and screws to the drip rails. The ones with side hinges, like the Fulton, are aftermarket.
