Thank you for that information. I have sourced a pulley and I am going to start talks on trying to get it shipped here.
Other work this weekend included getting the compressor bracket on and the oil filter housing relocated. I need to make up one more oil line and that can be done. I got the brakes finished up with new wheel cylinders. All the brake lines are now connected. I repacked the front wheel bearings and noticed I need new inner seals. I also noticed the drivers side outer bearing race is sliding in the hub... that is not good. However I was toying with the idea of going disc brakes up front and a dual chamber master cylinder. I would feel better with those modifications given my intended useage. but still have plenty of research to do on that. I was able to paint and install the lower bellhousing as well.

I got a mechanical switch from the packard parts store and was able to get the brake lights working, but the automatic level feature on the suspension still doesnt work. I also noticed that manual override switch does not work any more, it was working intermittently. I am guessing there is a ground issue with the manual switch that may prevent the whole system from working. I do not know for sure since I do not know how that override switch is wired up.
I checked the fluids in the car and after a couple cranks the car did start up. oil pressure, and temp work well and register as normal on the gauges. I started it in park (which I wasnt able to do) but I also noticed that it would not go into high range when I selected "H". I know the shift motor was rebuilt, and a new harness was installed. I am guessing there is an adjustment issue with the motor. I still dont feel comfortable driving it, but the decision was made and it will be going to Ross Miller to have him go over the mechanicals and electricals to see what other work needs done. Right now it is just waiting on him and a roll back.

So I went back to my folks this weekend to get some work done on the patrician and ran into some issues. Biggest being the pulleys on the balancer.
so the balancer that was on the engine only had the pulley for the power steering. I had a separate balancer that had all 3 pulleys on it, so I figured I would just swap the balancers... so i removed the crank shaft nut and noticed that the power steering pulley just came off the one that was on the car. However the 2 additional pulleys on the other balancer was not capable of being removed. No matter how much banging, pullers I used it did not want to separate. The last puller I used ended up braking one of the pulleys. am I doing something wrong? Do I have the wrong part? according to the service manual the additional pulleys should be able to be separated, but these do not. pictures to follow

I am not planning on using some of the factory A/C components on my build. I am trying to modernize the system a little bit.
Do you have pictures of what you need? I cant guarantee what I have is even functional.

So I am looking at working on the generator and starter(s) for this car. The generator is the proper Delco unit for a 56 and was just going to get the rebuild kit from Kanter, unless anyone has another source to use?
but when it comes to the starters: I have a 55 delco starter. being that 55 was positive ground and the 56 negative ground. Would the 55 delco starter work on this car? Would I have to do any different wiring to get it to work? Again I would probably get the rebuild kit from Kanter unless anyone has another source for parts? The next I have is a 56 autolite starter. I believe both types of starters would bolt up and function fine. But is there any concerns with using an autolite on a packard since they were meant for the clippers? I believe some wires have to be rearranged from what I read on here. Either way I would like to have 2 starters rebuilt and working so I have one functioning spare for two cars. thanks

Thanks Howard!
So I got the relay apart. The one contact broke at the rivets that went to the solenoid and ignition. I took pictures with that broken piece in place and the under side of the relay. Any idea on how to wire up a modern relay to this? Would it be a SPST? Good to know about the relay! I will definately look into using a modern cube relay. Would probably need help wiring that up.
and there is an arrow indicated on the valve body. did I orient that wrong?
