Hi Packard Friends,
a special thankyou to DavidM from Australia. He send me a picture of a bearingbox from exact this bearing "made in germany". The Company doesnt exist anymore but I found the company who take over the production of this kind of bearings. They build a single piece for me. It costs 100? (115 USD).

After disassembling the transmission I?ve to realize that the last "Restorer" dont installed one of the most importand bearings ... the driveshaft front bearing is complete missing !!!!!!!! not broken or pieces into the oilswamp .. just missing !!!
Maybe anybody knows if this piece is still available in the old style or a newer construction and can give me the correct designation in US inch. The measurement was ... inside the Clutchshaft 33,15 mm (1,305 ") ..diameter of drivinbshaft 25,38 mm ( 1" ) lenght .. roundabout 2 ". The Partsnummer of Packards Parts-List is 124 354.

Re: 1924 Packard Clutch

I got the same idea .... to release all springs and pull the clutch disc parts off. I used my valve spring tool with a little extra piece to take the snap ring out. After this procedure I could push back the rear clutch plate to make space for my "home made" spider wheel puller. First try ..
goes wrong .. to weak threadet rod. With stronger Bolts (10.9) a standart pullingtool and a impact wrench ... the spiderwheel came off with a big bang. Now its easy to remove the shaft
where the forke for the relase bearing sit on .. I THINK .... but I cant push the shaft out. I take out the srew which hold the fork in place. But the fork sit strong at the shaft and I cant take out the slot wedge bacause the shaft moved only 1 or 2 inch to the left or to the right side if I try to beat it out with a coppershaft. Than .. the slot wedge/Fork hit the housing.
How this works ....?

1924 Packard Air/Oil Shocks

Karl
Hi Packard Friends,
my car has this 4 Air/Oil Pressure Shocks patendet by G. Westinghouse NY in 1916. Looks like that this Shocks are a very rare optional equipment on cars at this early 20th.
I found any pictures shows mounted this pieces mostly on Piers Arrow Cars. I found the Patend script but no further infromations.
On my car one shock had a broken Airvalve. I fixed this and meanwhile all Shocks are in function. I rebuild the 4 missing Valvecups.
The Shocks hold the airpressure, but I don`t know what is the "normal" airpressure... what kind of fluid and what is the level this Shocks need.
Ill be happy about any informations about that.

Hi David, thanks for informations about the Carb. I hope that the 6 Zyl. Carb has the same adjustment than the 8 Zyl. 1924. Yes it ist the Fuelizer-Carburator, but on the 1924 8 Zyl. the Fuelizer is a part of the Exhaustmanifold. Your Attachment shows the Carb where the Fuelizer is a part of the Carb. The Pictures shows my Carb mounted at the Exhaust and after cleaning. Maybe somebody knows ..was the bronze body factory painted ?
And dont be jealous .. this Car looks only good from the distanz. To much people did lousy works on this great car and the rust did the rest. Greetings to DownUnder. Karl
