I was wondering, how long does the lock up clutch disc in the converter usually last in mileage??? Are there replacements for it? is it the same clutch disc as used in the manual cars? Does it need periodic adjustment like a regular clutch for wear?

Does anyone have pictures of the driver's side inner trunk? Reason I ask is my friend sent me pictures of a 1951 Packard. A body shop had removed part of the inner trunk panel to get access to the outside quarter to straighten some damage from being hit on that side.

Thanks John

A friend was telling me that having alcohol in gas will make an engine run hotter. I guess the engine runs leaner on alcohol mixed gas, than with straight gas.....
Do you guys enlarge your jets any to compensate for this??

I'm a bit late on this posting, but the clutch housing pattern changed on the Chevy 6 cylinders when they ended the 235/261 engines in 1962 and started making the 194, 230,250 and 292 engines. The 1963 and up 6 will interchange with the Chevy V-8. The 1962 and back will not....

Okay thanks, I know some cars you need to unbolt the front motor mount and jack the engine up a bit for clearance.

Can the oil pan be removed on a 1951 288 while it is in the car?
