Nice looking '47 Clipper Paul. Thanks for the encouragement.

Do the rear fenders unbolt on these Packard Clippers (1946-47) or are they made as part of the rear body?

Hydramatics were dual range even in 1955 and back. This referred to the 2 drive positions on the quadrant. One was for country driving (1 to 1 ratio) the other was for city driving (1.5 to 1). I have a 1956 Pontiac Chieftain that uses the older version without the separate park position on the quadrant. The Chieftains got the older style transmission.
I believe the Jet-away I think was Oldsmobile's name for the Hydramatic. In the Pontiac they are known as Strato-Streak and Strato Flite.
They have to have the control rod adjusted just right between carb and transmission or they shift hard or slip going from gear to gear....

That is one thing I'm leery of, is I've never towed a trailer before.....So don't know much about them.

Looking at their website (U-Haul), it looks like I could tow it. Trailer is a maximum 133" long wheelbase, 77" wide tread and 5200 give or take pounds.

No probably be a 2hr thing on the interstate to get it home.....

I take there isn't much sheet metal patch panels for these cars? Things such as rocker panels, or floor patch panels? I take it you fellows have to beat out your own panels?

Not sure if this fits in this topic, but pertains to the same car. Has anyone trailered one of these behind a full size 1/2 ton Chevy truck? I was thinking along the lines of renting a U-Haul car trailer, which has built in braking on it. The truck already has a receiver hitch already on it. Figuring the car weighs around 3500 lbs.

Thanks Owen, I didn't know if they could be oiled up like the old Chevy 6 by pulling the distributor and using a drill to rotate the oil pump or not.
