Yes, the '53 does look nice, and I agree the pics are terrible. No interior pics, no underhood pics, really no good closeups to get an idea of paint/body condition. But it looks like a lot of car for the money, but too far away for me unless he doesn't sell it and brings it with him to Atlanta

And the Clippers are marked sold now.....that was pretty quick. Maybe Wat Tyler and Fred got them??

In spite of the disparaging comments about hot rods, hot rodders and hot rodding in general, I have to give a lot - not all, but many - of those guys credit. Much of what they build, they build from piles of Ferrous Oxide that many people would have hauled off. Whereas they may not always craft works of art, the fact that they display such ingenuity and tenacity is impressive. I applaud their commitment.

I think a lot of the need and/or desire to modify one's old car has to do with what one intends to use it for. The closer it is to being a trailer queen, the more original it can and should be. The closer it gets to being a daily driver, then considering upgrades is nothing short of logical.

Your car, new or old, is yours, and how you use it is your decision. So is what you do with/to it.

Well stated Wat!

In addition, many times an older car being modified/updated will donate mechanical parts (especially engine/trans/rear axle, as well as sometimes front suspension/steering) to keep other original cars on the road.

I only found your reply/information this am. I will print and file. My attempt to add the AC will begin April when I return from Florida to NC.

A most sincere "Thank you" for your information.

Marc, you should have stayed in NC this winter.......it's been in the high '60s/low '70s for the last week or so here in Kernersville!

As a side-note for scanning, if anything of value, do not save as JPG/JPEG or GIF as these formats degrade over time. Each time the image is moved, copied renamed or even viewed, it recompresses itself more and more until it’s pixelated. These formats are called “lossy” so instead, go with “lossless” formats such as TIF/TIFF or BMP. Even though they take up far more drive space, they will not degrade.

Don, thank you for this information! I did not know this about JPEG and GIF files. I have a lot of old photographs and slides scanned as JPEGs. Can these be converted somehow to TIF or BMP (not even sure what that is)?

Decent looking car but the price seems high for a six. I bet that Fred will turn her nose up at this one for the same reason - she seems like more of an 8-cylinder girl.

The auction was pretty wild. I've never walked through a private collection like that and the super sketchy building just made it cooler. Had to come home with a few, hopefully can make something of them. I've got about an hour and a half of video footage from the preview I will be putting up on my youtube channel so those of you who couldn't attend can see what all was there.

Can you provide a link to the video when you put it up? Thanks!
