Found above article online about a salvage yard located in KY (Lyons Vintage, Loretto, KY) that has a large number of 1940's and 1950's cars, including this 1951 Patrician. Some great photos. Above is link to the article and other photos.

My hat is then off to you, sir. I really admire people who have metal working skills. Sadly, it is a lost art these days.

I think that the upholsterer did a really nice job of duplicating the original pattern, even if the correct fabric was not used. You have to admit that it does look good and the colors blend well with the car. Sometimes, you just have to make compromises with a restoration. The original wool fabric, if even still available, may just have been prohibitively expensive for the owner's budget.

Many years ago, my late dad and I were restoring my 1940 110 sedan and we had to remove both headlight buckets in order to prepare the car for painting. The buckets are held down by a single large nut. As I recall, it was a 1" nut. The nut threads on to a hollow bolt that fits through the bottom of the bucket and the wiring threads through the bolt center. It is quite a job to get off, but I would just cut through the wire and then pull it out once you remove the bezel, lens and reflector. You are going to want to redo your wiring anyway. Then, you should be able to get a socket onto the nut. Good luck. But if you already have the whole front clip off, it shouldn't be that hard. My dad and I opted to just remove the headlight buckets and leave the rest of the car assembled as my front sheet metal was in pretty good shape. I had to crawl under the car to get access to the headlight nuts. Removing the grille with the grille shell on the car wasn't fun either, nor was reassembling the grille after replating and then trying to get it back on the car. But we somehow managed.

Here are a few recent CL posts:
1928 526 Convertible Coupe. This car has been for sale for several years and keeps popping up from time to time. You would think that the seller would cut the price, but he keeps raising it. I like the car, but think he is way out of the ballpark. Car does have some charming features. Note the Clymer windshield spotlight; a popular accessory of the 1920's. Original documentation is impressive. Located in Lowell, MA. https://nh.craigslist.org/cto/d/1928-packard-coupe-model-526/7585439111.html 1948 Packard Standard Eight sedan in Maryland. Model No. 2292. Original exterior, interior has been reupholstered in modern materials. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/d/accokeek-1948-packard/7591369390.html 1957 Clipper Town Sedan. Ad says it is a '58 but it is definitely a '57. Very rusty and rough and probably only good for parts. Note '54 Henney hearse in the background of one of the photos. Located in Johnstown, PA. https://altoona.craigslist.org/cto/d/johnstown-1958-packard/7593566194.html 1951 Packard 200 Deluxe Sedan. Looks pretty rough, but body appears to be relatively solid. Milwaukee, Wi: https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/d/madison-1951-packard-ultra-matic/7588059256.html 1946 Clipper sedan. Needs everything. Albuquerque, NM, so it is probably rust free, at least: https://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/d/belen-46-packard-clipper/7585752649.html Very nice original 1941 Clipper. Looks great. Ad states 25K original miles. Oregon: https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/d/troutdale-1941-packard-clipper/7593645738.html Beautifully restored 1951 200 Deluxe sedan. Looks like it might be a deal. Bellingham, WA: https://bellingham.craigslist.org/cto/d/ferndale-1951-packard-200-ultramatic/7586532859.html 1956 Clipper Super. Nearly completed restoration. Does not look like it needs much more, other than some reassembly. Sacramento, CA: https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/sacramento-1956-packard-super/7595060495.html Beautifully restored 1953 Patrician. Think it is one of the nicest I've seen of this model. Love the two-tone blue paint scheme. Los Angeles, CA area. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/d/torrance-packard-patrician-400/7585418247.html Not that much on CL anymore. Looks like more people are using FB these days.

Wonder whatever happened to Mr. Hunt's 1940 Convertible Coupe? If it was still on the road when it was 17 years old, a really old car back then, maybe it has survived to the present day. Hope so. I really love the prewar Junior convertibles.
My first Packard was a 1940 110 Sedan. I bought it in 1980 when I was only 23. I spent about 3 years restoring it with help from my dad and from a local body shop who agreed to take on the body work and paint. Here are some before and after photos.

I saw this car many years ago in the car corral at Hershey. I think it must have been back in the 1980's. This was before Ed Herrman acquired it and had it completely restored. As you can see, it was pretty rough. I also saw the film Ed made of the restoration and it needed quite a bit of metal work to bring it to its current state. I think that most of the wood framing needed to be replaced as well. But the finished result is quite stunning. A very rare and beautiful custom bodied Packard.
Here is a picture I took of the car at Hershey prior to restoration.

Just rechecked the ad for the 1938 Six Opera Coupe and it is showing as sold. That was certainly fast. Hope it is going to a good home and will be restored to original condition.
