Re: Spotted: 200 Coupe

So-Cal is a little out of my range (The moutains in the background kinda gave me a clue). And shipping that distance would be a hard on my budget. I live in Wisconsin and could pick-up and trailer a car myself within a state-or-two, so it wouldn't workout this time. Makes me a little jealous for all those rust-free bodies just out of my reach.

Thanks for posting the pics and info.

I'm very interested. It's just like the parts car I have. Any info on where it's located?

Where do you plan on getting the intake manifold for those four carbs?

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check out the Hawk site.

I've already been in contact with Mikes Transmissions in Reseda CA (about two weeks ago). And FYI, they are no longer able to do the 700R4 conversion. It sounded like it was a collaboration between three guys. The man who did the machining has passed away, and the other two are no longer on speaking terms. They did say they could maybe find someone else to do the machining, for around $3000 Plus, not including the cost of the donor trans. They did give me the name of another guy, but I've had no luck contacting him.

That may all change, but just to let you know what I encountered.

Big Kev mentioned that Sierra Grove Packards has kits for prior 54. You mean the straight 8's, right? I'd be interested in any contact information on that. Thanks

Do you have any contact infor for "Jack N. in Texas" to ask about these conversion kits? Thanks. (PS, I second the idea of a transmission conversion registry)

Just looking for some more clarification. In this tread tpow asked the question "Are there any external differences that would pinpoint the 327 or 288? Or did they use the same block for both sizes?"

So are the 288 and 327 blocks the same casting? Does anyone have any info on that? Thanks.
