John, You are correct re the body style. I edited my posting to body style 1097 for the 1937 120 convertible sedan.

John, I am quoting from your very first posting on this subject;
"3. The Packard they had on display turns out not to be a 1936 as they claimed. The Packard on display in actually a
1937 Convertible Sedan."

You seem to be contradicting yourself in now stating that the 120 Convertible sedan was not available in 1937?

All of my Packard information indicates that the 120 convertible sedan model was offered in both 1936 (Body 997) and 1937 (Body 1097).

That is very interesting information that the "Dietrich" bodies were built by Murray for Packard as that is something which I was not aware. Facinating stuff! Thanks for sharing of your knowledge of Packard.

I am not familiar enough with the Packard 120 to be able to distinguish between 1936 and 1937 years based upon these two photos. The Convertible sedan was offered in 1936 and 1937. Perhaps John or someone will be able to explain what they are. I am familar enough with Packards of the era to recognize the car as being a 120 Model. The information sign states that the car is an eight cylinder so if it is indeed a 120 model it should have a 120HP engine not 130 HP as stated. I believe that the 130HP, 320 CI engine engine was exclusive to the Eight in 1936 and the Super Eight in 1937. It is very nice of Mr. Bliemeister to respond in such a timely manner.

Brain, HMMMM..if Lake Erie is a clue maybe the vehicle we are looking for is the Jeep CJ3 made in Toledo, Ohio? I don't know when the first "Powrlok" was offered but I think it may have been in 1956 but possibly earlier.

I'm going to say Studebaker but if I'm right don't bother with the Lake Erie trip as I've been there about 100 times!

Kev, I bought one from Kanter and it is sort of a Carter generic kit but did the job. Sure wish I still had the Carter repair kit with all the metering rod adjustment tools etc. which I sold a few years back for $50 (KICK KICK)!

Kev, As far as the paint goes unless you are going to attend a judged Packard meet I would just buy a high temp paint that looks close if price is a concern. Very few Packard enthusiasts including me would know the difference anyway and in time a short time any colour you paint it will change shades due to the heat. I bought paint from Bill Hirsch which while expensive is competitively priced with Kanter etc. It was the correct colour and has a good reputation. It hasn't flaked but has lost some of its gloss but I am very satisfied. I wax the cylinder head and it gleams! No paint will adhere properly if the metal beneath it is not properly cleaned as you no doubt already know.

Kev, I did try oven cleaner once when I was cleaning the engine block for painting. It did a reasonable job of removing grease but not really worth the effort compared to plain old varsol. I felt that washing the stuff down the drain afterwards was probably not very sound environmental practice so never used it again. Be sure to wear heavy rubber gloves!

Kev, Although no absolutely certain I would not expect to see single flare fuel lines on any car much less a Packard. Someone in the past must have replaced them and only did a single flare possible because he didn't have the correct tool.
