Howdy,
In the first explorations, and door removal, I found the wood damage to be much more comprehensive than I had imagined. Basically, most, if not all of the wood needs replaced. I am (or should say was, new hobby now!), a hobbiest woodworker / furniture builder, and as such, I am not afraid of wood fabrication. I would just love not to have to re-invent the wheel, if I don't have to, soooo, question is this: Are there any prints, or pattern books available, or do I just have to do it forensic style? Thanks, Ray the coach itself, is in the worst shape - quite structually unsound

Home, safe and sound..., Uhaul actually worked out just fine. Of course no 1928 packard in the system, so about the same dimensions as a model A ford, which they had. Bad weather for the trip! But, I just could not wait, the old girl needs a complete frame off job, but like I said before - it will shine again.

Purchase...., not me, it was my grandfather's first car, having been put away for "safe keeping" in or about 1948. "free to a good home" is about what my grandmother just told me.
Ray, and I will add pics when I get it

I have owned a 5th series 526(?) for all or 2 days, and although I know that it is safe in it's current garage, (it has been there for at least 20 years). I am going to drive back 1,000 miles to go get it tomorrow. I made the same trip yesterday, but without a capable tow vehicle, so 3,000 miles in 5 days.
question is this, I believe it is a 526, so wheelbase I can find, but how wide is it? I don't have a trailer that heavy duty, I need to rent one, anything special I should care about? The brakes(?) are locked, so it will not roll, I have dollies. uhaul has 2 sizes available, the smaller lists a 133 wheelbase max, 79" width. The bigger one not at most stores. newly addicted, Ray,

I will, but until fall, I am 1,000 miles away. More time for research. And the years have not been terribly kind...., but it was driven in, so it will shine again!!

Its value is not a really a concern. It just has emmense coolness value to me, as a 1 family car. The original title still exists. I have 18 years to restore it for its centennial. It is a sedan, but I have no body numbers, so until I get it this summer, I will have to guess?
Thanks!

Howdy,
I have just been given what is likely my grandfather's first car. Bought new by his uncle, it was driven into a garage in 1948, and stored in a couple of dry garages ever since. No broken glass, no cancer. The paint is broken around almost all intersections, and has surface rust. The upholstery, having housed a family of cats for a few years is a total loss. The real question is..., what is it? I don't have access to the car, as it is in Missouri. Before I came back home, I looked at the patent plate, assuming that it held all the answers. It shows manufacture(?)date of 7-23-28. serial #164775, Kansas City, MO. I have a 1930 owners manual that has a hand written note indicating 526 - but the manual is for an eight, the car is a six. So..., what is it? And as I undertake this project., well, where do I start? Humbly, Ray,
