Kind offer Kev--not sure I could do much without getting too long winded though but will give it some thought.

Is OmniGraffle the SW you use to make those neat wiring diagrams with picture like symbols --like the one you made for the fog lights a few days ago?

Hadn't heard that story, but sure wouldn't discount it. Things American, carwise, would probably have been in high demand because almost anything else would have been small & probably not too suited for the "limo" set. What else reasonably large was there besides Mercedes & RR? Am sure they had a workforce that could do just as you described too--even to the point of hand making some complex mechanical part--as long as it was in good enough shape to copy.

Not necessarily. Don't know that particular company but am almost positive the shoes are used on other common cars. When I did a 54 Pacific a few years ago, took old ones down to a local independent brake service. They pulled new ones off the shelf. Turned out they were used on something else-- a pickup, I think--don't remember which one though & at the time wasn't forward thinking enough to write it down.

Dave, nothing special. These were posted in pretty high res so clicked on image to expand it to largest. Then used the clip select feature on the Mac to narrow down to area of interest, saved and reposted. There is a sharpen feature I can use but sometimes it sharpens too much and gets grainy so seldom bother.

I don't remember precisely where it is but think interlocking grooves might be at the top of that "hollow or open" area.

Great high 5 mascot! Don't know how you always come up with a picture for the purpose.

And moreover it was safe.
Yes. In addition to the reasons you gave, if 2 switches were pushed for different directions and both contactors provided voltage & heavy current at same time to pump, things could have gotten very interesting. This way only the solenoid coils would get power at once and at worst, a fuse would blow.

Would sure like to see a picture of the window mechanism if you have one in your spare parts pile. With a bidirectional pump, did it have the big spring like the Packard?

Car looks like it has promise if it checks out halfway mechanically.

As to the interior, depends on what you want to do. Back to original, there's only a couple of places that MIGHT have the fabric and it won't be cheap, nor will the labor. If you just want a driver then Kanterhttp://www.kanter.com///eCatalog/s00032.htm and others offer fairly complete custom made sets out of modern fabrics for around $5-600. You can either install yourself or have done at a shop for a not terrible price.

Terminal 1 of the relay box gets battery voltage and assuming lockout and kickdown switch, governor & wiring OK, when governor is at speed, a relay will energize and terminal 4 of relay box will supply voltage to solenoid 4. At same time, out relay box 3 to terminal 3 of solenoid. Solenoid should energize, OD light will come on, and when solenoid completes engagement, light will go out.

There should be an inline fuse near starter and there should be a set of contacts in reverse light switch in series with the power lead to disable OD when in reverse. All grounding is accomplished as you mentioned.

Do you have the econodrive manual here:https://www.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/EconoDriveTrainingBook.pdf

or the wiring diagram here:https://www.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/wirediagrams/48-9%20%2022nd%20Series.pdf

It most likely is OK. The pull in coil & contacts usually are the parts with issues. What are your symptoms. By grounding various connection, the relay should energize and the solenoid should clunk which could help you isolate where the problem is.
